Apart from tracking the progress of pregnancies, ultrasounds are great at guiding needle biopsies, as well as at diagnosing certain medical conditions, including the presence of cysts or infections. They can even identify potentially life-threatening conditions like blocked arteries or blood clots.
The machine records the echoes of sound waves in order to establish the shape, size and texture of both soft tissue and organs, transforming this information into images that our radiologists interpret. With its clear images and pinpoint accuracy, our true digital mammography machine easily identifies any changes to breast tissue. It captures more views of the breast in less time than traditional mammograms, with more precision and less radiation. The resulting images are digitised, analysed, and manipulated via computer for optimum visibility. This allows for more detailed diagnoses, particularly in younger, pre-menopausal women and those with dense breast tissue.
